Q: What is the Valued Added Tax (VAT)?
A: VAT is a consumption tax levied on goods and services in many countries around the world. The national tax systems of Europe, Canada, Japan and Australia allow for a refund of VAT to most non-resident business entities, worldwide. In some instances, registration for VAT is required by the local country law in order to get a refund. Registration must be done prior to the business event.
Included in your registration fees is a 19% Value Added Tax (VAT). EU and non-EU companies may be eligible to apply for VAT reimbursement which was applied to your registration fee. Please consult with your country’s tax advisor for assistance in claiming your refund.

Q: I registered for GDC Europe online -- how do I get a receipt and confirmation?
A: If you registered and paid online, the final page of the registration process is your receipt and confirmation. Please make certain to make a copy of your receipt for expense purposes as well as any follow-up with the GDC Registration Department. If you printed an invoice and submitted it with your check payment, we will mail you a confirmation and receipt, once your registration is received and processed. Online registration without payment does NOT secure the Early registration discount. If you selected payment by check, please be aware that all check payments must be received by the Registration Department no later than Wednesday, August 11, 2010 in order to apply the payment to your registration. If you are unable to meet this deadline, please pay by credit card by accessing your registration as a returning user and follow the prompts to pay with a credit card.

Q: Why do I have to create a unique login and password for my registration?
A: For your privacy and protection we require anyone registering online to create a unique login for access to their registration. Having a login allows you online access to your receipt, pass selection and information about your registration.

Q: When do I receive my badge?
A: Event badges are will no longer be mailed out. Please be sure to print out your confirmation and bring it with you to the conference with a picture ID.

Q: I registered and now need to make changes to my registration, how can I do this?
A: If you need to cancel your conference registration, you may do so for a full refund, less a EUR175 plus a 19% VAT service charge until Monday July 23, 2010. Attendees who register prior to or after the deadline date, who do not cancel in writing by the deadline date are liable for the pass cost and will be charged for the full registration fee. Sorry, no refunds are available for no-shows. If you are unable to attend the event, we recommend that you send a substitution in your place. Changes to registrations must be presented in written form, downloand the form here.

Q: When do I find out whether my speaking proposal for the 2010 conference was accepted?
A: If you have not received confirmation or acknowledgement of your GDC Europe 2010 proposal, please contact Evelyn Donis.
Q: Can I bring my child to the GDC?
A: There will not be any on-site child care services at the Cologne Congress Center East. And due to safety concerns, no one under the age of 18 (including infants in strollers) will be permitted on the show floor at any time during the conference.

Q: Where is the GDC Europe VIP Business Lounge, and who gets access to it?
A: The GDC Europe VIP Business Lounge is located on the fourth floor of the Cologne Congress Center East and open to All Access pass holders and their approved guests only. The GDC Europe VIP lounge is open during the same hours of the conference and will host an indoor and outdoor lounge area as well as refreshments. All Access pass holders will receive a special non-replaceable "Guest of All Access Member" to allow admittance for one GDC Europe guest into the VIP Lounge.
