GDC Europe Conference Associates (Student Volunteers)


Due to an unexpected high volume of applications, we are no longer soliciting volunteers for GDC Europe. If you applied before May 19, your application will be reviewed and a decision made in late June/ early July.

GDCE volunteerIf you're a university student and interested in attending GDC Europe in exchange for volunteering approximately 13-hours of work (Sunday orientation not included), then apply for the Conference Associate (CA) program!

GDC Europe 2011 runs from Monday morning, August 15 through Wednesday evening, August 17, 2011. Conference Associates have pre-conference assignments and a required orientation (orientation & preparing-day on Sunday, August 14, 2011). If you are accepted into the program, you are needed from the start of your orientation through the end of the conference on the evening of
Wednesday, August 17, so please plan accordingly.

What are the benefits?

Complimentary registration that can be used when not on-duty. Your Conference Associate Pass also includes a one-day trade visitor ticket for gamescom 2011. A Conference Associate Pass to GDC Europe gets you access to:

  • More than 100 sessions, summits, and keynote presentations (Mon-Wed)
  • Lunch catering on all conference days (Mon-Wed)
  • Networking events & evening parties (GDC Night and GDC Club Party)
  • GDC Europe Expo Floor (Monday-Tuesday)
  • A one-day trade visitor ticket for gamescom 2011 (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday)
  • A one-year subscription to GDC Vault

What do we expect from you?

  • We expect: accuracy, politeness and reliability
  • Dress code: casual to smart casual

What kind of work does the job involve?

Challenging tasks (some might require advanced degrees) such as:
  • Guarding doors, checking badges
  • Monitoring conference sessions
  • Assisting speakers in their sessions
  • Checking badges during meals and special events
  • Stuffing/Assembling conference bags
  • Answer questions from attendees
  • Data entry... And much more!

You will still be responsible for:

  • Travel expenses to and from the conference
  • Hotel or housing expenses
  • Expenses for any meals which are not normally covered in the "Conference Associate Pass"

NOTE: We do our best to keep the working time for every one as short and enjoyable as possible. However, while individual needs will be taken into consideration, we cannot guarantee that all requests will be granted.
